Principal's Message

9/1/17

Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome you back to Reseda Elementary for the 2017–2018 school year. As you heard during Back to School Night, we have a very special year ahead of us. First, we will continue to provide academic experiences grounded in the development of a growth mindset leading to higher student motivation, effort and achievement. Our focus on personal responsibility, a growth mindset, effective communication skills, critical thinking and the ability to solve problems both individually and collaboratively ensures that our students become contributing members of a diverse community.

Second, this year we will we will continue on this path of student empowerment by becoming implementing Franklin Covey's The Leader in Me whole school transformation process. It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. This past semester we introduced the 7 Habits of Highly Happy Kids, a key component of the overall Leader in Me process, to our students both during the school day and in our after school program, The Boys and Girls Club. This coming school year, staff, students and parents will receive training in the Leader in Me process.

We look forward to continue working together to empower children with the creative, intellectual and decision-making skills necessary for them to become academically, socially, physically and emotionally successful and responsible.

We are looking forward to working together to ensure another successful year. As always, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us at 818- 343-1312.
